Also, Tim Spector does a lovely, simple cacio e Pepe chickpea dish in his new recipe book which is such an easy win and tastes so creamy that my little boy enjoys it too (going through a very fussy stage at 3 going on 13 🤦‍♀️) xx

I didn’t realise that was in his book, think just sent one into the Guardian thinking how original I was 😂 Same with my 3 year old - it’s no sauce on anything right now 😭😭😭 xx

Rukmini, I love your books, recipes, substack articles and your love of gardening! I remember writing to you on Instagram at the time of your diagnosis as I also had a similar experience and was dx with BC when my son was a year old and had to abruptly stop feeding, complete the holy trinity of treatment, following which I was also plunged into a medical menopause! My hormones were all over the place! I too found so much solace and comfort in gardening (particularly my farmer Gracy tulips!) and the wise words of Rosamund Dean! Her book ‘Reconstruction’ and archived Times column were some of the few things I could read around BC without being freaked the fuck out! I’ve just started an allotment which I’m hoping to share with my little boy and I’m not sure if I would have taken it on had it not been for being unwell as BC at a younger age does (understandably) give you a sense of urgency and drive to just get on with it and do all those things you dream of. I hope you’re feeling as well as you can on the letrozole and enjoy your farm stay! Thank you for the recommendation - looks gorgeous! 😘

Ah thank you so much Rebecca! You have absolutely hit it with that sense of urgency to do everything all as soon as possible - trying to remember not everything has to be right now but gardening is def such a brilliant tangible thing to focus on! My Farmer Gracy anemones did really well but not so much the dahlias (0/50!) - think will try in pots this year 😂 If you are anywhere within reasonable distance of the New Forest the farm is amazing for children - fresh eggs to collect, produce from the polytunnels, pigs to feed :) (Alba is insisting she’s going to ride her favourite horse there, Blue who is 16 hands and in livery, she has never been on a horse before 😂)

Aah thank you so much! I can't wait to start digging in the new borders but AM going to find the notebook with graph paper and do it properly. And slowly. Am so impatient that would crane fully grown trees into the garden like you do at Chelsea if I had the budget, a terrible approach to gardening!

Love Kathy’s book Rough Patch and have a conversation with her about it coming out in the podcast Our Plant Stories on Tuesday. Just wanted to say that your wonderful cookbooks revolutionised our family meals. Good luck with the garden plans - I’m a follower of Jo too and love that course, though I always think my garden is bigger than it really is!
